Don Roesler - Boys Head CoachDon Roesler brings a diverse sports and business background to his work as
tennis pro and H.S. coach. He is the girls high school coach at Damonte Ranch High School. He has been in charge of mens and womens leagues and held team practices for all levels. Don began teaching tennis in 1980 and earned his USPTA certification in 1993. As a former tournament tennis player he understands the drive to be a great tennis player. At the Illinois State Junior College tournament, he was state singles champion and was ranked 19th nationally. He went on to play for University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he was elected team captain. Before his college tennis career, he played tennis at Kalani H.S. in Hawaii and was state doubles champion his junior year and MVP of the basketball team his senior year. In addition to his extensive tennis career both off and on the court, Don has been a certified personal trainer and a certified PADI scuba instructor. He is a certified stringer and will string your racquet for you in 24hrs. He has participated in numerous sports; golf, basketball, baseball, and football just to name a few and still partakes in sports on a regular basis. Don is a former USPTA Midwest Division state president and Rookie of the Year. He was selected coach of the year 2012 in District 3 of Indiana. Don earned an associate degree from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill., and a bachelor's degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He spent many years in the casino business as a a dealer, pit boss and casino manager. Don currently holds an active real estate license in the state of Florida. But his true love is teaching tennis. He believes his personal tennis experience and his USPTA certification brings strong teaching skills to help kids become better players. Don says "As a tennis pro I believe that my high school coaching has helped kids become stronger players and better kids". He hopes to lead his tennis teams to state championships. |
Mike Alt - Girls Head CoachCoach Mike is entering his fifth season with the Damonte Ranch tennis program.
He currently is the assistant for both the boys and girls teams and is in charge of fundraising. He is an alumni of Damonte Ranch, who graduated in 2008 and played three seasons of tennis under Coach Flatley. He played tennis at Sierra college in rocklin California before returning to Reno in 2009 to begin his coaching career. He is also apart of the basketball program at Damonte as the assistant boys freshman coach. Originally from Santa Clara California, Mike has spent the last 10 years here in the biggest little city. Mike is an avid outdoorsman who participates in running events all over northern Nevada including 10k, half marathons, marathons and duatholons. His summers are usually spent playing in tennis tournaments across the state of Nevada and northern California. He is pursuing his degree in business management at the University of Nevada Reno as well as starting his own business. He plans on graduating from the university in the spring of 2014 and could potentially pursue his MBA. He recently created his own brand and organization where he does motivational speaking in the community. His Organization gives him the opportunity to speak about personal stories of perseverance while hoping to inspire and encourage individuals to work towards personal goals. |
